About Us

AMVETS Valley Memorial Post 9 was chartered October 16, 1946 with 39 Charter Members. Initially organized to give the war vets a place to meet, socialize, play games, and a cool beverage of choice (non-alcoholic). The membership met in the basement of a local building known as “The Foxhole” which has since been torn down and replaced with a municipal parking lot.

In 1951 the post purchased its existing property, and there have been 4 significant renovations and additions done to the site since that purchase.  The membership itself has also grown substantially since 1946, with a current membership total of 466 Veterans (377 Life and 80 Annual), 315 Sons, 162 Auxiliary, and 9 At Large Members, totaling 859.

The post has several conference rooms, an event room, kitchen, two bars, a game room with pool table and dart board, 5 Maryland Lottery machines, an ATM machine, cornhole court, security system for access control and cameras for safety monitoring, and ample blacktop parking.
